Join me for an introduction to modern calligraphy at Edinburgh's home of lovely brews and quality goods, Century General Store.

This workshop will bring you though the basics of modern flexible nib dip pen calligraphy. We'll start with an introduction to the tools and how to use them, including assembling the calligraphy pen, using inks and understanding flow and pressure. We'll then move onto how to make basic shapes and strokes, and finally to creating letterforms using my sample modern calligraphy alphabet as a guide. By the end of the class you should be more confident and starting to develop your own unique calligraphy style, with plenty of time for practice and one-to-one tuition.

Whether you're a bride-to-be planning your wedding stationery or just love all things handwritten - this workshop will provide you with the basic techniques and tools you need to start your very own modern calligraphy practice.
